Questions

Frequently Asked

Do I need a Colorado fishing license?
Yes — every angler needs a valid Colorado fishing license. We make it easy: we'll send you the link and walk you through buying one online (it takes just a few minutes) well ahead of your trip, so you arrive ready to fish.
Do you provide gear, or should I bring my own?
Everything is included — rods, reels, waders, boots, flies, and terminal tackle, all in good condition and sized to you. Prefer your own rod? Bring it — many of our clients do. You just need a license, layers, and a willingness to learn.
What should I bring?
A valid Colorado fishing license, layered clothing for changing mountain weather, polarized sunglasses (they help you spot fish), sunscreen, a hat, and water. We provide all the fishing gear. We send a detailed packing list once you book so nothing gets forgotten.
I've never fly fished — are beginners welcome?
Absolutely — beginners and families are some of our favorite trips. Our guides teach casting, knots, and how to read water on gentle, fish-friendly stretches. Most first-timers are catching trout by midday. Book the Beginner & Family trip and we'll handle the rest.
What's your cancellation and weather policy?
Trips cancelled by you with 14+ days' notice receive a full refund of your deposit; inside 14 days the deposit can be applied to a rebooked date. We fish in most weather — some of the best days come under cloud — but if conditions are genuinely unsafe (lightning, flash-flood flows) we'll reschedule at no charge. Colorado weather changes fast; flexibility is part of the deal.
How many anglers per guide or boat?
We keep groups small. Drift-boat float trips are two anglers per boat with a guide on the oars. Wade trips run one or two anglers per guide. Larger groups are no problem — we just add boats and guides so everyone fishes well.
When is the best time to fish the Front Range?
Fishing is genuinely year-round here — winter midges in the canyons, big trophy trout on the Dream Stream in spring and fall, summer dries on the Arkansas and high creeks. Our booking assistant can tell you exactly what's fishing best on any given week.
How do I book, and how fast do you respond?
Fill out the booking form on our contact page with your trip and dates, or just ask our 24/7 booking assistant in the chat — it answers questions about seasons, rates, and availability instantly, any time of day. A real coordinator confirms every booking, usually the same day.
