What every trophy trip includes

You bring a license and a little patience. We handle the water, the flies, and the approach.

01

Trophy Tailwater Access

We guide the Dream Stream between Spinney and Eleven Mile and the technical flows of Cheesman Canyon — the water where the biggest Front Range trout live.

02

Sight-Fishing & Tight-Line Tactics

Spotting fish in clear water, presenting tiny midges and eggs, and managing a perfect drift. Your guide reads the run and picks the fly that moves big trout.

03

Spring & Fall Runs

We time these trips to the spring and fall migrations, when rainbows and browns push up out of the reservoirs and the trophy fishing is at its peak.

04

All Premium Gear & Flies

Light-line rods, fine tippet, and a fly box dialed to the day. Bring your own setup if you like — many of our trophy clients do.

05

Proper Fish Handling

Big wild trout deserve care. We fish barbless, keep fish wet, and get a quick photo so your trophy swims off strong. Catch-and-release, done right.

06

Book & Ask Anytime

Our 24/7 booking assistant answers questions about runs, conditions, dates, and what each trip includes — any hour of the day.

Why Fish Guided

Local knowledge is the whole game.

Trophy tailwaters are public, pressured, and technical. The difference between a great day and a long blank is knowing where the big fish hold, what they are eating, and how to put a clean drift over them — and that is exactly what we bring.

Our guides fish this water year-round and time these trips to the runs. When a five-pound rainbow slides into the open at the head of a run, we already know how to get a fly in front of it.

"I read the Dream Stream every week of the season — so when you step in, we already know which runs are holding the big ones and exactly how to fish them."

Questions

Trophy Trip FAQ

What makes the Dream Stream a "trophy" fishery?
The Dream Stream is the short, fabled stretch of South Platte between Spinney and Eleven Mile reservoirs. In spring and fall, big rainbows, browns, and cutbows migrate out of the lakes and into the river to spawn — which means genuinely large, wild trout in a small, wadeable river. It is technical, public, and pressured, so local knowledge and the right approach make all the difference.
Is this trip good for beginners?
Trophy tailwater fishing is the most technical fishing we guide — clear water, spooky fish, tiny flies, and fine tippet. It is doable for a motivated newer angler, but if you are brand new we usually suggest starting with a Half-Day Wade or our Beginner & Family trip first, then graduating to a trophy day. Tell us your experience and we will set you up to succeed.
When are the best windows for trophy trout?
The two prime windows are the spring run (roughly March into May) and the fall run (October into November), when fish move up from the reservoirs. Winter can also fish well in the canyons with midges. Our booking assistant can tell you what the runs are doing the week you want to come.
What does the Multi-Day Colorado Getaway include?
The multi-day getaway strings together the best of the Front Range — a drift-boat float on the Arkansas, a wade day on the South Platte, and a day chasing trophy trout on the Dream Stream — built around the season and conditions. We handle the itinerary and logistics and can recommend nearby lodging. It is the ideal trip for a destination angler or a serious local who wants it all.
