Everything for a day on the oars

You bring a license and a hat. We bring the boat, the gear, the flies, and the local knowledge.

01

The Drift Boat & Guide

A comfortable drift boat with a seasoned oarsman who knows every run on the Arkansas. Two anglers fish all day while the guide positions the boat over the best water.

02

All Rods, Reels & Flies

Premium rods rigged for the day's hatch, plus every fly and bit of terminal tackle you'll need. Bring your own rod if you prefer.

03

Streamside Lunch

A proper lunch on a gravel bar mid-float — one of the best parts of the day. Tell us about dietary needs when you book.

04

Miles of Water

A float covers far more river than you could ever wade, including banks and runs that rarely see a fly. That access is where the big fish live.

Why Float

The Arkansas is best seen from a boat.

The Arkansas River is one of the longest stretches of Gold Medal water in the country — and the way to fish it is from a drift boat. A float lets you cover miles in a day, drifting flies over fresh, untouched runs and reaching banks no wade angler will ever stand on.

With a guide on the oars holding the perfect line and two anglers fishing constantly from the bow and stern, you stay on productive water all day. It's the most relaxed, most productive day of fishing most of our clients have ever had.

  • Two anglers per boat — both fish all day
  • Cover miles of Gold Medal water

How It Works

Your float day, start to finish

Book it, meet the boat, fish all day.

1

Reserve your float

Request dates online or through the booking assistant. A coordinator confirms availability and sends a license link, meeting point, and packing list.

2

Meet at the put-in

We meet you riverside, get you rigged for the day's conditions, and load up. Your guide covers the plan and the safety basics before you push off.

3

Fish & float

Drift miles of Gold Medal water with the guide on the oars, both anglers casting to fresh runs. Streamside lunch on a gravel bar mid-day.

4

Take out & plan the next

We handle the take-out and shuttle. Most clients are already asking about next year's float by the time we reach the truck.

Questions

Float trip FAQ

How many anglers fit in a drift boat?
Two anglers per drift boat, plus your guide on the oars — one fishing the bow, one the stern, rotating through the day. It's the ideal setup: both of you fish constantly while the guide rows you over miles of productive water. Booking three or four? We run multiple boats so the whole group floats together.
Do I need floating or rowing experience?
None at all. Your guide handles all the rowing and boat positioning — your only job is to cast where they tell you and enjoy the ride. Float trips are genuinely beginner-friendly because you fish from a seated, stable position all day.
What's included on a full-day float?
Everything: the drift boat and guide, all rods, reels, and flies, a streamside lunch, and shuttle logistics. You bring a valid Colorado fishing license, layers, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We'll send a short packing list when you book.
When is the Arkansas River fishing best?
The Arkansas is Gold Medal water with a long season. The famous caddis hatch in spring is legendary dry-fly fishing; summer brings strong nymph and dry-dropper action; and fall is quiet, beautiful, and full of big browns. Our booking assistant can tell you what's happening the week you want to float.
Is a float trip good for catching bigger fish?
Often, yes. A float lets you cover miles of water you simply can't reach on foot — including runs and banks that rarely see a fly. That access is exactly why floats so often produce the biggest fish of someone's trip.
